The Conservatory Outlet Network Completes the National Three Peak Challenge

Members from across Conservatory Outlet’s Premium Retail Network completed the gruelling 24-hour challenge within minutes to spare, raising over £13,000 for charity in the process.

18 participants from the Conservatory Outlet Network have successfully completed the gruelling National Three Peak Challenge in under 24 hours, raising over £13,500 for charity.

A lifetime’s ambition for many members of the Premium Retailer Network, participants from 5 Star Windows & Conservatories, Clearview Home Improvements, Eden Windows, R Mitchell Glass and TWC Home Improvements all jumped at the chance to take on Scotland, England and Wales’s highest peaks.

The challenge would see the team first scale Ben Nevis (1,345m) at the crack of dawn on Tuesday, followed by an evening ascent of Scafell Pike (978m) before starting the climb up Snowdon in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

In total, the joint ascents topped 3,046m – twice that of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

It’s an extremely tough challenge as only 40% of those who start it complete all three mountains within 24 hours.

The group couldn’t have picked a hotter time to attempt the challenge either.

Due to the blisteringly hot weather conditions (that reached nearly 30 degrees!), the itinerary was adjusted to avoid the warmest parts of the day.

The heat also brought about some other problems. It rendered the packed waterproofs, fleeces and hats redundant.

The buses didn’t smell too great travelling between each peak either…

After spending 23 hours climbing or travelling between peaks, the real challenge was on to descend Snowdon with just an hour to go.

To get to the finishing line on time, participants had to race down the mountain path.

But the sprint finish saw them all complete the challenge!

Greg Kane, CEO of Conservatory Outlet, explains: “This is something that we’ve collectively wanted to do for a long time.  I’m so proud of every member of the team.

“We vowed to complete the challenge together as a single group.  That meant we had to work hard as a team to support and help each other, which made the achievement all the more special for us all.

“It’s taken an immense amount of hard work and training from the team, as well as time commitments away from the business, and we’re all so delighted to have achieved this together – memories that will last a lifetime.

“Most importantly, we’ve raised a phenomenal sum for charity, and would like to offer huge thanks to all our friends, family, customers and suppliers for supporting us – it means a lot.”

Proceeds will be shared between Macmillan Cancer Support and Prospect House Hospice, with a total of £13,500 raised across three Just Giving pages.

Rebecca Shanks, Fundraising Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We are blown away by the efforts of Conservatory Outlet and their Network of Premium Retailers in completing this epic challenge.

“To have smashed their original target and raised this incredible amount is truly staggering. We are extremely grateful to everyone who took part and everyone who donated.”
