Mitchell Glass, the first Scottish retailer to join the Conservatory Outlet Network, is looking to capitalise on the strongest order pipeline in its 146-year history by investing in the talent of the future.
With a strong order book, Scottish Network member Mitchell Glass is expecting to grow by 20% over the next year.
To help the company meet demand and achieve its long-term goals, the firm has recently hired four apprentices and has created a brand-new personal development programme to enable staff to learn new skills and forge clear progression routes through the business.
This commitment has helped Mitchell Glass achieve the Gold Investors in Young People standard for the first time in company history. And it comes a few weeks after the Galashiels-based firm was re-accredited as a Silver Investor in People employer.
Speaking about the award, owner Lewis Roden said: “These two IiP Awards highlight that our approach to developing our workforce is on point and having the desired results in helping us attract and retain staff.
“Investing in apprentices is a big part of our recruitment plans and we currently have a mixture of young and mature learners across administration, sales and in our installation teams.
“[This] also gives the chance for older, more experienced employees to pass down their knowledge to the next generation, meaning our succession planning is always in place.”
Mitchell Glass joined Conservatory Outlet in 2011 and exclusively supplies our range of conservatory, orangery, double glazing windows and doors across Edinburgh, The Lothians and The Scottish Borders.
Greg Kane, CEO at Conservatory Outlet Group, added: “Mitchell Glass is a respected figure in the Scottish home improvement market, and we are fully behind Lewis and his team’s dedication to their staff and especially in supporting new talent to come into our sector.”
