Glass Units
Argon Filled Units
Argon is a colourless, odourless, non-flammable, non-reactive, inert gas. Argon gas fills reduce heat loss in our sealed units by slowing down convection inside the air space.
As air itself is a good insulator, filling the gap between the glass panes with a low-conductivity gas such as argon improves window performance by reducing conductive and convective heat transfers. This phenomenon results from the fact that the density of the gas is greater than the density of the air.
This combination of Argon Gas and low-e energy saving glass alone can achieve an improvement in thermal performance in the region of 50% over and above that of a standard sealed unit.
This is an optional extra please contact your dealer for more details.
Super Spacer®
Super Spacer® is a new product that we use to replace the conventional aluminium spacer bar that you see between the two panes of glass in a sealed unit.
By combining this product with low-e glass and Argon fills gives us a ‘C’ rating on the Energy Index certified by the BFRC. (At Conservatory Outlet our windows currently comply with these specifications, however, we are currently submitting our windows for testing to allow us to officially display our ratings).
The minimum rating required for standard double glazed units to comply with building regulations is an ‘D’ or an ‘E’ rating, however, by reaching a ‘C’ rating our windows not only comply with the minimum requirements but are actually deemed ‘energy saving recommended’.

There are many benefits of using Super Spacer®…
Performance
Unbelievably 80% of the window’s energy loss is through the edge of the glass, where aluminium is used, because it is a highly conductive material. By replacing the aluminium spacer with super spacer®, the edge temperature can be increased by 65%!
Extensive tests have also shown that units incorporating the all foam spacer system can outlast traditional aluminium bar sealed units by up to 5 times!
Reduced Condensation Risks
Super Spacer® is 950 times less conductive than aluminium and as mentioned reduces thermal loss at the edge of the glass. This in turn reduces the condensation by up to 70% over Normal double glazing. The simple laws of physics dictate that heat rushes to the coldest surface, by taking away the conductive aluminium spacer, we minimise the opportunity for potential problems.
Noise Reduction
Sealed units incorporating Super Spacer® Warm Edge Technology have been proven to reduce noise transmission by up to 2dB, over units with standard aluminium spacer. Super Spacer® is made from closed polymer foam, a construction that absorbs sound.
