Conservatory or Orangery 365 Days a Year from Conservatory Outlet

Deciding to add a conservatory or orangery to your home is a big decision. There are many important considerations to make such as what style, size, colour and how much you can afford to spend. However although there is a lot of advice available to help you make such decisions one area which is often neglected which can effect your enjoyment of your new conservatory or orangery is will you be able to use it all year round.

In order to be confident that you will be able to enjoy your conservatory or orangery 365 days a year you will need to ensure that you have adequate heating and ventilation and that it is positioned to allow you to receive the maximum amount of natural sunlight. Usually south facing conservatories and orangeries will receive the most amount of sunlight.

By choosing to have your new conservatory or orangery built using double glazing for the glazed areas you will significantly improve its ability to be able to retain heat. As the name suggests double glazing is made by having two panels of glass which are then sealed together and a small gap is left between the two panes. It is this small gap which acts as an insulator and helps to prevent the heat generated from escaping. You will also need to install heating, there are several options available but the most common are extending your existing central heating or installing under floor heating. Some people choose to add an electric heater and whilst these can be cheaper in the short term in the long run they are an inefficient way of generating heat and can considerably increase your energy bills.

Whilst adequate heating will keep your conservatory or orangery warm in the winter it is equally important to be able to keep it cool in the summer. By installing roof vents, opening windows and large French doors you will be able to let the air flow through your conservatory or orangery in the summer months. If you are opting for a south facing conservatory then although this is great in the winter and helps to keep the room warm in the summer it can get very hot and by installing blinds will allow you to block out the sun.

These are just a few of the many considerations which you will need to make to ensure that your new conservatory or orangery is a space which can be used throughout the year. However by taking your time and discussing all of your options with your conservatory or orangery installer will mean that you end up with a conservatory or orangery which provides you with pleasure for many years to come.
