Britons Yearn For Larger Savings

Author: Conservatory Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

After Britain returned to recession and at a time when the overall cost of living is higher than it has ever been before, it is no surprise to see that a study shows that Britons crave more savings in order to make themselves happier.

Investment company Skandia say that just two years ago, 82 per cent of people stated that they would be happy with savings totalling £5,000. However, since then it would appear that people have re-evaluated that stance, as now only 64 per cent of people say that £5,000 worth of savings would suffice.

A Skandia spokesman says: “The rise in the cost of living, uncertainty with the economic climate and talk of recession is clearly making people wish they had a larger nest egg than they might have considered necessary before.”

Living costs are a particular problem for most UK homeowners at the moment as the cost of energy in particular has shot through the roof in recent years. Gas and electricity bills across the board have reached a whole new level and resulted in large numbers either living in fuel poverty, serious debt or simply without heat and light at essential times of the year.

Those who have yet to install contemporary windows and conservatories will be amongst those hit hardest by expensive heating bills as old windows are a common cause of draughts and heat loss. The same goes for any ageing doors they may have.

Whereas, those who have installed double…

Attract Tenants To Your Home With A Conservatory

Author: Conservatory Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

A spokesman for the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has advised anyone looking to rent out their property to invest in a conservatory. The NHIC provides impartial advice and information on home improvements and Director Andrew Leech says: “They are not tremendously expensive, but they will provide another room.”

What Mr Leech says is absolutely true as conservatories can massively extend a home and will give occupants an extra room that they can use in a variety of different ways. Those who love to relax in the home can use it is a second living room, whilst those who host regular gatherings may prefer to transform it into a luxury dining room.

By adding a conservatory to your home you will be demonstrating to potential tenants that you have taken the trouble to make an effort and give whoever lives in your property the best possible form of home living. It may also even enable you to ask for higher rental price as you will be able to point towards your conservatory as being a unique feature.

For that extra bit of class, why not also add a set of patio doors or French doors to your conservatory as they will provide users with the most perfect gateway into the garden. Opening and leaving the doors open on a hot summer’s day will allow the outdoor air to circulate its way through the extension so that ventilation is assured no matter how hot…

In the current housing market, due to a lack of potential buyers many homeowners are really struggling to sell their properties. The economic situation within the UK has meant that it has become much harder for first time buyers to get a mortgage or save up for a decent deposit. This means that when you do get someone to look around your house, you really need to impress.

With this in mind many people are beginning to realise the importance of making a few home improvements as a way to maximise the potential value of their properties.  As with everything in life, first impressions do count and your home is no different. The first thing that any new visitor to your property sees is your front door so it should be of a high standard if you want to influence their decision. Replacing an old rotting timber framed door with a modern UPVC door has proved over the years to add value to any property. Unlike wood, UPVC won’t warp and rot, something that will appeal to potential buyers.

Another home improvement that is guaranteed to impress and add value to your property is a conservatory. Space is something that everyone wants when they are looking for a new home and a conservatory is an easy way of giving it to them.  Designed to complement your home, conservatories are available in various styles. No matter what type of property you have, whether it be a bungalow, terraced…

Home extensions whether they be a brand new conservatory, loft or garage conversion, are out of the reach of many people financially which can make things difficult if space in your property is hard to find. Patio doors and French doors can totally transform your home and because of the transparency of the glass used it will make your garden more visible and as a result your property will feel that bit larger.
